Part introduction to a cruelty-free lifestyle, part post-holiday diet, Veganuary is a celebration of vegan dining that takes place in January. Although veganism normally extends to clothing and other products as well, Veganuary is simply a diet challenge to avoid all foods that come from animal exploitation during the month of January. This doesn't mean you need to give up eating out and other enjoyments, however. Here are several South Bend-area vegan-friendly restaurants our real estate agents recommend.
- Pinellia Vegan
We'd be remiss if we didn't list Pinellia first. Pinellia is South Bend's only all-vegan restaurant, serving a variety of Asian cuisine. Enjoy common Asian dishes such as spring rolls, tempura, General Tso's, Teriyaki, Moo-Shu, and Pad Thai, all served with vegetables, tofu, seitan, or other vegan protein options. This is the only restaurant in town where you won't have to ask for vegan options! Located at 3601 Edison Road in South Bend, Pinellia is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 am until 9 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11 am until 9:30 pm, and Sundays from noon until 9 pm.
- Purely Pressed
If you're looking for a refreshing vegan pick-me-up after touring South Bend or Granger homes for sale, check out Purely Pressed. The ingredients in the vegan-friendly juices, superfood smoothies, and acai bowls are all vegan, including their own house-made cashew milk. The only non-vegan menu items to be aware of are some of their specialty coffees, as the keto options contain butter. Purely Pressed is open from 7 am until 7 pm Monday through Friday, with reduced hours on the weekends. They have locations at 1251 North Eddy Street in South Bend and 316 Cleveland Road in Granger.
- Blaze Pizza
Yep, that's right, eating vegan doesn't have to mean giving up pizza! Blaze Pizza, while serving lots of "normal" pizza, also has lots of vegan-friendly options. They have a house vegan pizza pie, as well as vegan cheese and soy chorizo that you can use to put together your own perfectly vegan pizza. They also offer salads, and even a gluten-free crust option if needed. Pizza takeout is a perfect option for moving day, as it makes feeding everyone so easy! Located at 1234 North Eddy Street, Blaze Pizza is open from 11 am until 1 am Sunday through Thursday, and 11 am until 2:30 am Friday and Saturday.
- CoreLife Eatery
While their focus is primarily on natural, organic, and whole foods, CoreLife Eatery offers a couple of vegan menu options, plus the ability to build your own bowl with any ingredients you choose. Check out their Sriracha ginger tofu and quinoa, or come up with your own creation to suit your tastes and your mood. CoreLife Eatery is located at 5728 Grape Road in nearby Mishawaka, making it a perfect stop after visiting South Bend homes for sale with your agent. They're open from 11 am until 8:30 pm Saturday through Thursday, and 11 am until 4 pm on Fridays.
